On December 18, 2018 the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi successfully held a job fair for Kenyan university students in the Main Campus' Great Court. About 30 relevant enterprises provided just about 700 jobs and received more than 1000 resumes. The opening ceremony was officiated by Professor Isaac Mbeche (Deputy Vice Chancellor A&F) in attendance were the Vice Chancellor of University of Nairobi, the leaders of the Chinese Embassy in Kenya and other leaders of the Kenya - China Economic and Trade Association and the Chinese General Chamber of  Commerce.

In his speech, Wang Shuwen, Vice-Chairman of Kenya - China Economic and Trade Association and Party Secretary of China Wuyi Kenya Branch pointed out that the current relationship between China and Kenya has entered the best " sweet period" in history and that  Chinese enterprises create more than 10,000 jobs in Kenya every year. He hoped that Chinese enterprises would find the talented people required by their enterprises from the students who applied for jobs, giving young people a chance to grow up in work, because their growth will drive the prosperity of enterprises and promote Kenya's modernization process.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (A&) Prof. Isaac Mbeche  expressed his gratitude to the Confucius Institute of the and the participating enterprises for providing this noble opportunity to students. He also point out that the job fair offered by Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi is the best platform for Kenyan students to get good job opportunities, hoping that students can get the opportunity and show their abilities. Chen Andong, the student representative working in China Daily, was a student of Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi, shared his experience and achievements in Chinese enterprises.


The theme of the job fair was " Dream for Youth and Build a Dream for the Future", in order to deliver outstanding professionals to relevant enterprises and provide employment opportunities for graduates from various universities in Kenya. The enterprises participating in the job fair included not only large Chinese enterprises such as China Road and Bridge Corporation in Kenya, China Civil Engineering Group ( Kenya ) Co., Ltd. and China Wuyi Industrial Co., Ltd., but also Kenya's well-known enterprises and institutions such as Kenya Kans Plastic Products Company and Nairobi Center for International Arbitration. The students who came to consult from various universities in Kenya.


Prof. Xiao Shan, the Director of Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi, highlighted that the success of the job fair has strengthened the new teaching model of " Chinese + Skills" and that Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi, will continue to connect enterprises with students and provide more communication platforms so that students can really learn and use what they have learned, and at the same time, enterprises can get real talent people.
