Choir from the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi Sing for East African VIP Delegation Welcome Party

On May 8th, 2017, the East African VIP delegation Kenya tourism promotion dinner was held at the Swiss Internet Lenana mount Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. People from the Chinese mainland, China Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States and other regions of the United Kingdom, as many as 150, participated in the event. The Chinese choir at the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi was invited to perform a ceremonial show for the dinner.

Considering the members of the delegation are all Chinese, and they would like to experience Kenyan culture, the choir prepared two Chinese songs and two local songs. After the opening remarks from the host, the choir from the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi was called on stage for entertainment. The chorus first brought the Chinese song "half a moon climbs up". The audience gave a warm applause after choir sang the first sentence "half a moon ... ...” taking out their mobile phones began to take pictures and video. After that the "Alamu Khan" and the Kenya local song "Malaika" also received a burst of applause from the Audience. And the last passionate song “Sudu” even made some of the delegation members follow the choir singing and joined in the dancing.

The purpose of this team is to promote Chinese tourism in Kenya. The team will have a seven-day study tour of Amboseli, Naivasha and Masai Mara. The Chinese choir from Confucius Institute at University of Nairobi was honored to be able to perform in front of the Chinese people to show their understanding of Chinese culture, hoping to attract more Chinese people come to Kenya to travel through their music.
