Choir of Confucius Institute at University Went to China for a Music Winter Camp

From 28th of October to the 9th of November, Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi in Kenya and the International Exchange Office of Tianjin Normal University organized a music winter camp for students from CIUON.

On the opening ceremony on October 30, Yang Wei, director of the International Exchange Department of Tianjin Normal University, said in her speech that she hopes campers will study Chinese songs and Chinese culture hard during the two weeks with the guidance of the senior director and the former Oriental Song and Dance Ensemble Prof. Lv Yangping. Ms. Martha Lankisa, the Administrator from the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi, introduced the winter camp campers and presented local Kenyan souvenirs to the Director of the International Exchange Department Of Tianjin Normal University

Besides learning Music, the campers also visited Tianjin Cultural Center, Ancient Culture Street, visited the Badaling Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square and visited the Confucius Institute Headquarters. In the headquarters of the cultural experience center, campers experience the Chinese paper-cut, calligraphy, musical instruments and traditional costumes, and further feel the charm of traditional Chinese culture.

November 8 2017, the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi Music Winter Camp held a knot camp ceremony. The campers sang the Chinese songs "On the Field of Hope" and "Under the Silver Moonlight" and received a warm applause from the audience. Mrs. Zhang Lin, deputy director of International Exchange Department of Tianjin Normal University, issued a certificate of completion for the representatives of campers and teachers.

Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi Chinese choir was established in 2009, perennial active in all kinds of cultural exchange activities, with its unique acoustical performance of four singing part of the cultural fusion between the two countries.

The music winter camp aims to enhance the music and Chinese proficiency of choir students, create a good Chinese learning environment for students, experience the profound Chinese culture and experience the charm of Chinese music.
