Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi Held Graduation of Short-term Chinese Training Course for Immigration & KRA

On March 31st, Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi held graduation of short-term Chinese training course for Immigration & KRA. Ms. Eunice Lamba Chacha, Deprty Director of Immigration, Mr. James Wahome, deputy Commissioner of KRA, Mr. Zhong Xingxiang, office Manager of Chinese Embassy, Prof. Henry Mutoro, DVC Academic Affairs, Prof Enos Njeru Principal CHSS and Dr. Jane Oduor chair linguistics and languages attended the graduation.

At the beginning, a video made by the teachers was played. It showed the time when the Immigration & KRA staff are having classes and working at the airport. After the video, Prof. Guo Hong, Director Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi gave welcoming remarks. She congratulated the Immigration & KRA on their graduation and expressed her thanks to Chinese Embassy, Immigration, KRA and University of Nairobi for all their support all through the program. Then, the graduates from Immigration & KRA performed scene plays in Chinese language to show their daily work.

Prof. Henry Mutoro affirmed the training results and appreciated the efforts made by Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi in promoting the friendship between China and Kenya. Mr. James Wahome hoped that more and more KRA staff can have this kind of training. Ms. Eunice Lamba Chacha encouraged the Immigration staff to use the Chinese they learned into their daily work to improve the quality of service. Mr. Zhong Xingxiang spoke highly of the efforts that Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi has made and said Chinese Embassy would support such training always. In the end, the guests issued the certificates to Immigration & KRA staff.

The graduation ended with the song sang by Immigration & KRA staff named “Kangding Love Song”.

With the further development and relationship between China and Kenya, more and more Chinese travel and work in Kenya. The first intimate contact the Visitors have with Kenya is with the Immigration & KRA officers. The Chinese training course given to the Immigration and KRA officers will not only provide convenience to Chinese who come to Kenya, but also will create conditions for in-depth understanding and cooperation between China and Kenya.
