ED 213

The opening ceremony for the second Chinese staff training class was held by the Confucius Institute on the 13th Jan, 2015 in ED213 at the University of Nairobi. More than 100 staff at the university registered for the training class, among which about 70 were presented on the ceremony. Prof. Njeru, the principle of the College of Humanity and Social Science, made a very brief speech and fully affirmed the institute. He also encouraged the staff to work hard and make a great progress.

After a warm welcome to the staff, Ms Guo, the director of the Confucius Institute gave a very brief introduction to the institute. Before the first class started, the two teachers, Xu Jing and Ruth Njeri explained in details about the teaching plan and the purpose of the training. Staff started to show their interest in learning Chinese through the study of numbers, week days, some basic greetings and tones. When the class was over, some even tried to use the words they had just learnt to say "good bye"(zai jian) and "thanks"(xie xie) to the teachers, and they were looking forward to the next class.

This is the second class the Confucius Institute holding for the staff. We hope through the study of the language, they could understand more about the Confucius Institute and China. Besides, we hope we could help the staff in a certain aspect.
