Confucius Institute Attending the Spring Festival Celebration at the Chinese Embassy

On the 4th of February 2015, which was also the beginning of Spring, the Confucius Institute fraternity, teachers, volunteers, and students attended the Spring Festival celebrations held at the Chinese embassy in Nairobi. The celebrations were attended by overseas Chinese living and working in Kenya.

The Confucius Institute dragon and lion dance gave colourful opening performance to the awe of the audience, setting the spring festival atmosphere and giving way to the beginning of celebrations. The Chinese ambassador to Kenya, Liu Xianfa gave a welcoming speech and gave a toast wishing everyone a prosperous new year.

A teacher at the Confucius Institute, together with Yaxing, who was also the MC sang a song “China, My home” gave the evening a much anticipated climax.

The final performance of the evening was by the Confucius Institute Chinese Choir singing Jambo and Good day to the appreciation of the audience. Their songs performed in Chinese and Swahili was applauded by all and left everyone ready to welcome the year of the Sheep. It was really a good evening.
