Vice-chancellor Prof. Mbithi attended the 10th Global Confucius Institute Conference

    

 

6th-7th, Dec. 2015, Prof. Mbithi, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi (UON) attended the 10th Global Confucius Institute Conference in Shanghai.

    2015 is the opening year for CI second-10-year development and by now there are 500 Confucius Institutes (CI) and 1021 Confucius Classrooms in 134 countries all over the world. After gaining "The Best CI" six times and the "Pioneer CI" in 2014, CIUON won the prize of "Model Confucius Institute" this year, which is given only to 15 CIs all over the world. Prof. Mbithi received the prize from the Vice Premier Ms. Liu Yandong. This is not only the great honor to CIUON, but also an encouragement for its sustainable development.

    In the evening on the 6th, Vice-Chancellor prof. Mbithi, President Gao, Vice President Zhong from Tianjin Normal University and the director of Confucius Institute had a meeting with Madam Xu Lin, the Director General, Hanban, discussing on the further development of CIUON.

    Vice-Chancellor chaired the Presidential Forum on "Best Practice of Model Confucius Institute" and shared the experiences of CIUON with the other CIs all over the world.
