VC visits the Chinese Choir in Central Conservatory of Music in China

25th morning 2016, Prof. Peter Mbithi, VC University of Nairobi, accompanied by Guo Hong, the director of Confucius Institute, went to the Central Conservatory of Music in China to visit the Chinese Choir who are taking part in the “3rd Confucius Institute International Music Summer Camp and 1st Confucius Institute Art Festival”. 


The summer camp invited the student musical groups from all over  the world to exchange their understanding of music. The Chinese Choir of the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi, established in 2009 and well-known for its distinguish performance and explanation of the Chinese music, was also invited. VC was invited to the Opening Concert when he was on the official duty to sign the agreement of Confucius Institute Building.


The choir led the opening concert with Jambo in both Chinese and Kiswahili and Chinese local song Half a moon rising. Their performance was perfect and regarded the best of all. VC felt very happy to meet the students in China and satisfied with their performance. He encouraged the students to make full use of the chance the Confucius Institute offered to learn more and broaden their eyes. Finally the students took pictures together with VC.
