On Sep 30th 2016, the first Chinese corner of the new semester was held in the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi. The topic was “China from a Kenyan eyes”. The administrator Martha Lankisa hosted the Chinese corner.

The Kenyan students were all looking forward to the Chinese cultural activities. Martha introduced her experiences in China to the students. First, she introduced three famous cities of China to the students. These were; Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai. The beautiful pictures of the three cities attracted the students and made them amazed. Then, Martha shared her experiences of studying in Tianjin Normal University and Shanghai University to the students. She also introduced some traditional Chinese cultures like; Chinese calligraphy, Chinese Kungfu, Chinese paper cutting and Chinese music. Students were all full of praise of Chinese cultures. At last, students had an interesting discussion with Martha and volunteer Chinese teachers. Students asked questions about China and the volunteer Chinese teachers practiced Chinese with the students.

This time of Chinese corner was hosted by Kenyan, so students could see China in African eyes. It broadens their horizon, made them closer to China and more interested in learning Chinese.
