On Nov. 11th,Friday. The Confucius Institute at University of Nairobi held it’s fifth Chinese corner, and the theme was Chinese cuisines.
The presentation was delivered by Yuan Zili, the volunteer teacher at Confucius Institute. Zili started by introducing himself as a volunteer teacher in the Confucius Institute. He firstly asked students about impression of Chinese dishes, then he led students started the journey of Chinese cate.
The first PPT was about The Chinese Feast which made students marvel at the Chinese food. Then the teacher started to introduce the eight big cuisines of China one by one. During introduction, the teacher made students know the wonderful food culture through a large number of typical pictures by using Chinese and English. In addition, he told the influence of the topography in introduction of every cuisine combining with the Chinese map. When spoke of his hometown Jiangsu province, the teacher showed the Jiangsu part of <a Bite of China>, most students felt hungry after watching it. After the presentation, teacher gave students some topics to discuss with Chinese volunteer teachers.
The Chinese Corner held by Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi every Friday attracts many students to join it., and it was reviewed favourably by students. The Chinese Corner will continue until the end of this term.
