In the afternoon of 16th June, 2017,Summer Camp Opening Ceremony was held at the cultural experiencing center and was hosted by Prof. Guo Hong, the Director of Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi. This two-week camp is co-sponsored by Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi and Tianjin Normal University  and will provide a series of Chinese cultural experience courses for campers.

During the ceremony, Ruth, a native teacher at the Confucius Institute at Nairobi University, gave a general introduction about China to the campers, from the aspects of temperature, food, language and lifestyle, and then encouraged the campers to try to experience the culture as much as possible. Jane Odour, the Chairperson Department of Linguistics stressed the importance of the event for each camper, and hoped that the campers can actively participate in cultural activities, respect the local folk ‘s customs, and present a good image of Kenya.

In order for the summer camp to run smoothly, the campers were divided into small groups under the guidance of one volunteer teacher who will accompany them during the trip to China.

The summer camp is the traditional project of the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi, through which the outstanding students can earn the opportunity to experience Chinese culture. And we hope that they can cherish this rare opportunity, enrich their life experience and harvest valuable life wealth through this summer camp.
