Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi Undertook the 4th Kenya Confucius Institute Joint Conference

On November 26, the 4th Kenya Confucius Institute Joint Conference was held at Swiss Lenana Mount Hotel. This time the conference was organized by the Embassy of the people’s republic of China and undertook by the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi (CIUON). The Confucius Institutes which attended the conference include: Egerton University Confucius Institute, Confucius Institute at Kenyatta University, Confucius Institute at Moi University. The theme of the conference was “Learn with each other, Develop together, Help the construction of the “One belt, One road Policy” and it was divided into two parts: Keynote Speech and Teaching Demonstration.

At that day, the director of CIUON Guo Hong gave the opening speech, talked about the mission and the present situation of all four Confucius Institutes in Kenya.

After that, Director Guo gave a speech about the topic “the cooperation between CIUON and Companies”. She pointed out that we should establish a win-win relationship between the Institute and companies. After the two sessions and all of the speech, Wang Xuezheng, counselor of Chinese embassy, showed his satisfaction to the achievements that all four Kenya Confucius Institutes made in the past years and encouraged the idea of continuously enhancing the cooperation between Confucius Institutes.

In the afternoon, all teachers and volunteers watched two demonstrate teaching videos and had a discussion about the choice of teaching methods, appearance in class, class wording etc. After the long fruitful day, all participants had a diner together.

The conference gave a platform for four Kenya Confucius Institutes to communicate and sharing improvements. It also enhanced the relationship between each other.
