The vision of Confucius Institute at UON is "Friendship, Cooperation, Development, and Win-Win".     

The mission of CIUON is to promote Educational and Cultural Exchange between China and Kenya, to strengthen the friendship, to further the bilateral advantages, to carry forward the multicultural communication and advance the development together.

• Offering innovative and flexible Chinese courses, not only to the students but also to the wider community in Kenya;

• Acting as a focal point to support China-related activities in Nairobi and beyond;

• Developing and promoting teaching, learning and research on Chinese studies with UON and Kenya;

• Acting as a resource centre for local professionals teaching Chinese as a foreign language;

• Acting as an HSK (Chinese Language Proficiency Examination)  centre for Chinese language tests and preparations;

• Acting as a consulting centre providing service to the public and private
