CIUON successfully concluded the HSK Exam in December

On December 6, local time in Kenya, the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi successfully held the HSK offline exam. It is the first offline Chinese proficiency exam (hereinafter referred to as HSK test since the quarantine in March 2020. This HSK exam was conducted at main campus of the University of Nairobi. The exam included HSK level 1 to 5, HSKK test elementary and intermediate levels. A total of 90 candidates took the exam.

Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi decided to hold the offline HSK exam after full consideration of the current pandemic situation and the practicability of carrying out the offline exam. In this special period, CIUON will continue to provide students with the best environment for Chinese language study, while providing better learning conditions to further their Chinese language studies.

Prior to the test, Xiao Shan, the Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi, organized all the invigilators to sort out and count the examination materials, convened special meetings, and conducted special exam administration training. In addition, she detailed examination conduct procedures to fully plan and prepare how to coordinate the exams.

To ensure the safety during the conduction of the offline examinations, CIUON made comprehensive preparations to observe pandemic prevention protocols. At the entrance of the examination room, temperature measuring, and sanitization equipment were provided. Everyone in the examination room wore a mask while the room was well ventilated. On the actual day of the HSK exam, the invigilators entered the examination rooms in advance to check, collect exam materials, candidate sign-in forms, and other pre-test preparations to ensure that the exam process was smooth.

 Twenty minutes before the exam, candidates entered the venue smoothly with valid documents and test tickets after undergoing Covid 19 prevention procedures such as temperature checks, disinfection, and hand washing. HSK 1-5 levels, HSKK elementary and intermediate examinations were conducted orderly and safe manner.

As a bridge for cultural exchanges between China and Kenya, the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi has actively played its role as a platform, actively promoted Chinese Proficiency Test programs, scholarship programs to study abroad and to showcase outstanding talents for China and Kenya. The Chinese Proficiency Test has always been one of the priorities of CIUON. In addition, CIUON will continue to improve the efficiency and quality, develop the test system, provide a better learning and test environment for the majority of Chinese lovers in order to cultivate more outstanding Chinese talents.
