MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL CELEBRATION

On September 8th, The Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi held the Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration at the UoN towers 7th floor, actively joined in by CIUON staff, and students. The participants made Mooncakes together with the guidance of a local professional baker. To compliment the mooncakes, participants took part in a tea ceremony with the guidance of local volunteer teachers, and in the afternoon, the participants experienced the Chinese painting guided by the famous artist Ma Qun.

2022 Chinese Language Training Program for the Officers of the Directorate of Immigration Services

On July 26, the opening ceremony of 2022 Chinese Language Training Program for the Officers of the Directorate of Immigration Services was successfully held in the lecture hall at the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi new center. Deputy Director General of Directorate of Immigration and Citizens Services Dr. Dan Opon attended the ceremony on behalf of Director General Mr. Alexander Imbenzi Muteshi. Prof.

CIUON VISIT AT KEDA CERAMICS

On July 25th , CIUON organized a group of 18 teachers and students to visit Keda  Ceramics (Kenya) Co., LTD., an outstanding Chinese enterprise in Kenya. The visit was led by Wang Shangxue, Chinese Director at CIUON together with Mr. Johnson Kinyua, Director of Career Service at the University of Nairobi. They were warmly received by the management and staff of Keda Ceramics.

The 21st Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Kenya Division Preliminary Rounds

On June 24th, 2022, the 21st Chinese Bridge - Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Kenya Division Preliminary Rounds was held at the University of Nairobi. A total of 15 contestants from four Confucius Institutes in Kenya participated in the competition.

 

THE DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL AT CIUON

On June 3rd, the fifth day of the fifth month lunar calendar, Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi successfully held a Dragon Boat Festival Cultural Function. The function included four parts: Dragon Boat Festival introduction and brief history, dragon boat painting, zongzi making and delicious zongzi tasting. The students had fun as they learned about Chinese culture and new Chinese language vocabularies. The activity attracted several media stations among them being the local Kenyan Television Network (KTN).

 

2022 UoN STUDENT JOB FAIR

On May 19th and 20th, the 2022 Job Fair for UoN Students was held at the main campus of the University of Nairobi. Nearly 2,000 students participated.

There were 22 enterprises in total that attended among them were small, medium and large-sized Chinese enterprises. There were also Kenyan enterprises which have business related with China. Around 200 positions related to engineering, architecture, law, media, design, travel, translation, logistics and other fields were provided.
