A group of 18 students, including 16 from the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi (CIUON) and 2 from Statehouse Girls, returned from a two-week autumn camp in China, part of the prestigious 2024 “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency competition program. The students, who departed on October 11, were hosted at Tianjin Normal University, where they engaged in an intensive program focused on Chinese language and cultural immersion.

Exciting cultural exchange at the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi! A delegation from the Zhejiang Wu Opera Art Institute visited and shared their talents with the teachers and students. The students got a chance to learn opera singing and gestures, and some even tried out face paint used by opera performers. Students present developed an interest in Chinese traditional theatre.

On 29 August 2023, contestants from nine African countries taking part in the Africa Tech Challenge (ATC) experienced a range of Chinese cultural activities at the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi and watched a performance of face-changing, lion dance and participated in martial arts.

A delegation from Tsinghua University, one of the best universities in China, visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi. They had friendly exchanges with teachers and local students, experienced various activities, and had a lively atmosphere.
